The two men who were arrested by Alice Police Department were charged on Wednesday in connection with approximately 15 more burglary cases out of the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office.
David Cruz, 39, and Joshua Rodriguez, 20, have been in the JWC jail since Tuesday.
“We are working closely with Alice PD on these cases,” said JWC Sheriff Daniel Bueno.
According to JWC Investigator Alan Gonzalez, this is a result of Alice PD's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and the JWC CID partnership to clear these burglaries.
JWC investigators believe that the suspects are involved in a scam at a local business where approximately 50 briskets were stolen.
“These men would take the stolen items to make a quick buck,” Bueno stated. “They were selling the stolen property for dimes on the dollar.”
The sheriff's department urges the public to secure their property inside and outside their home.
“Don't leave anything in the back of your vehicles, and secure all doors and windows to your home,” Bueno said. “These men are taking everything and are not concerned for anyone's safety. Be good neighbors and report suspicious activity immediately."
Cruz is charged with evading arrest, a warrant for smuggling of person, two counts of burglary of habitation, burglary of a building and theft of property over $750.
Rodriguez was charged with burglary of a habitation, evading arrest with a motor vehicle and burglary of a building.
According to officials, more arrests are pending as the investigation continues.
