Two men, Elijio Gabriel Zepeda and Leonel Villa Barrientes Jr., were arrested on Friday morning at a home on the 800 block of Louis Street by the Alice Police Department.

Officers received information about narcotics and a wanted individual at the home. An officer with the Alice PD's Patrol Division arrived at the residence. Shortly, thereafter, the officer called Alice PD's Narcotic Division due to a smell of marijuana coming from the home, according to police officials. Also called to the scene was the department's Criminal Investigation Division.

The Narcotic Division subsequently executed a warrant at the residence finding a substantial amount of hydro marijuana, cocaine and firearms. The cocaine had a weight of 9.3 grams and the hydro marijuana was weighed at a kilo; all items were confiscated.

“Alice Police Department is working diligently to rid illegal narcotics from the city,” said Lt. Luis Barrera with the Alice PD.

When the officer made contact with Zepeda, he was hit in the face causing the officer to bleed.

Zepeda was arrested for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Barrientes was arrested on a violation of probation warrant.

Both men were transported to the Jim Wells County jail.
