San Diego - The City of San Diego City Council is committed to protecting and creating opportunities for the young people in their community. The city council is launching a new initiative to help empower and guide youth and young adults in the community.
The city council is seeking quality individuals to serve on a citizen’s youth advisory committee. These volunteers must agree to serve on an advisory committee for at least one year.
“I’m excited to launch this new youth initiative,” said San Diego Mayor Sally Lichtenberger. “Our goal is to include a cross-section of community leaders to be involved in this initiative. We’re looking for clergy, coaches, educators, government employees, parents, Scout leaders, youth group leaders, and concerned citizens to be a part of this important initiative.”
Youth Advisory Committee Members will be charged with the development and support of programs that will address:
Anti-bullying Career Awareness Child Abuse Prevention Citizenship Collaborative efforts with existing youth programs Community Service Educational Opportunties Holiday Toy Give-Away Internship Program Special Needs Awareness Summer Activities Wellness Program Youth Government Day Anyone interested, please attend the Youth Committee Advisory Committee Kick-off on Tuesday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.
