Reckless driver

A reckless driver was arrested Thursday. Cpl. Juan Martinez was on patrol when he observed the driver, later identified as Fernando Fiddie Lopez, of a Silverado disregarding the safety of others on the roadway. Martinez made contact with Lopez and immediately detained him. An assisting officer conducted an inventory of the vehicle he located a small marijuana cigarette. Lopez was transported to the Jim Wells County jail. He was charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana.

Possession arrest

On Thursday, Cpl. Julian Cavazos was parked at a local bar on North Johnson Street when he detected an odor of marijuana emitting from a vehicle. The vehicle was exiting the parking lot. The officer followed and conducted a traffic stop. The officer made contact with the driver, David Lee Ybanez. A search of the vehicle revealed a small marijuana cigarette. Ybanez was arrested and taken to the JWC jail. He was charged with possession of marijuana.

Civil Standby

Officer Martin Suarez was requested to escort a woman to a residence on the 400 block of East Main Street Wednesday. When Suarez arrived at the residence he made contact with Antonio Franco. As the officer spoke with Franco he detected an odor of marijuana. Franco admitted to smoking marijuana. The officer patted down Franco and found a bag of marijuana in Franco's pocket. Franco was transported to the JWC jail and charged with possession of marijuana.
