San Diego Police Department made several arrests including two racers, an alleged robber and a wanted individual.

On Thursday, May 11, at around 10:30 p.m. law enforcement officers with the SDPD and the Duval County Sheriff's Office arrested two individuals for racing on Highway 44. Joshua Hawks of Alice and Thelma Gonzalez of San Diego were detained.

“We will not tolerate racing on the streets of San Diego. I don't care who you are, if you are caught racing, you will be arrested and your vehicle will be impounded,” said Police Chief Richard Nava. “When you are racing your putting your life in danger and not to mention the citizen of San Diego. In other cities people who were racing have had deadly accidents and have killed innocent drivers, so myself and my officers will not put up with racing.”

Both individuals were booked into the Duval County jail.

Also on Thursday at approximately 5:40 p.m. officers arrested Issac Daniel Ortiz at a residence in 500 block of West Shaeffer Street for a robbery warrant. Ortiz was booked into the Duval County jail.

On Wednesday, May 10 at approximately 8:45 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted on the 200 block of North Bexar Street. The officer made contact with Leroy Ramirez. During the traffic stop, the officer was notified by communications that Ramirez had two outstanding traffic warrants out of Duval County. A pat down of Ramirez revealed Ramirez was in possession of a small bag of marijuana. He was transported to the Duval County jail. He was charged with the warrants and possession of marijuana.
