Mi Familia Adult Dance Center hosted a special Mother's Day dance on Wednesday to celebrate the holiday with family and friends.

The three oldest mothers - Margarita Perales, Elia Perez and Alicia Castillo, and the youngest mother - Maricela Briones were given flower arrangements during the festivities.

Mother’s Day is a holiday that honors motherhood and is observed in different forms throughout the world. The holiday became an official United States holiday in 1914.

Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday in May and traditionally involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and other gifts.

Clients also participated in a table decorating contest winners were Mark Steenholdt and Guadalupe Gonzalez, and a best dressed contest winners were Consuelo Garza, Minerva Resendez and Rosana Fuentes.

Also attending the celebration were individuals from Assisted Home Living and several dignitaries Bartolo Guajardo, Hilma and Jim Wells County Sheriff Daniel Bueno, Santa Garcia with First Community Bank, Alice Fire Marshall Patrick Thomas, and Guadalupe Nunez.
