An assault Thursday morning lead to the arrest of two women on the 1500 block of Encino Street. Cpl. Julian Cavazos was dispatched to the residence and made contact with the two victims. The victims told officers that a fight began when one of the victims son needed a place to stay. Hilary Rodriguez and Rachel Cardona approached the victims in their vehicle and assaulted them. The women were taken to the Jim Wells County jail and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
While on patrol Officer Nick Reyes observed a vehicle without a registration sticker. The officer ran the license plate number, but it didn't register to the Chevy Tahoe. Reyes conducted a traffic stop on the 2100 block of Adame Street. Reyes spoke with the driver identified as George Ortiz. According to Ortiz, he had just bought the vehicle and was waiting for the title to be transferred over to his name. Ortiz was placed under arrest for displaying a fictitious license plate. A pat down of Ortiz revealed a bag in Ortiz's pocket that contained two Xanax pills. Ortiz was transported to the JWC jail. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
