A Premont man passes away on Tuesday at a Corpus Christi hospital from injuries he sustained when he was ejected out of a vehicle Tuesday after a crash.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), JD Trevino, 30, was a passenger in 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck whose driver disregarded a stop sign Thursday, Feb. 2 at approximately 10:14 p.m. At the intersection of Farm-to-Market 716 and Highway 281 approximately one mile north of Premont.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling north on Highway 281 as the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveled east.

The driver of the Dodge pickup struck the Chevrolet pickup truck in the right passenger door causing the Chevrolet to overturn and both driver and Trevino who were not wearing their seat belts were ejected, according to DPS.

Trevino was transported by Halo Flight to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Christus Spohn Alice Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.  Driver of the Dodge pickup truck was transported to Christus Spohn Kleberg Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers are further investigating the crash at this time.
