Stars Scholarship organizers announced the entertainment for the 14th Annual Stars Extravaganza.

Comedian Jay Leno will be headlining the event on March 15 at the Selena Auditorium.

Stars Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization committed to promoting access to and success in higher education for all students in the community. Based in McAllen, Texas, Stars offers scholarships to students from south and west Texas who are dedicated to completing a degree at an accredited college or university.

The cornerstone of the Stars Scholarship Fund lays in the family of dedicated volunteers and devoted sponsors. The support provided to us is essential for our success, organizers said.

Annually, Stars Scholarship Fund enlists the support of businesses and organizations to become a sponsor of our Extravaganzas. Our sponsors enjoy benefits such as being guests at the Extravaganza and year round media exposure.

The Stars Extravaganzas are held in Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, Laredo and El Paso. Previous entertainers for our events have included Train, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton.

Stars expenses are largely underwritten by L&F Distributors and Anheuser-Busch, enabling Stars Scholarship Fund to direct 100 percent of every dollar contributed by sponsors towards student scholarships.

In our 2015 fiscal year, Stars Scholarship fund raised over $1 million through our four Extravaganzas, with those funds and the support of our partnering higher education institutions. Stars Scholarship Fund is scheduled to award $2.3 million in scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year.
