Officers made an arrest Monday during off-duty security at an apartment complex on the 2000 block of South Cameron. As the officers walked through the apartment complex they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. The officers made contact with Jason Sanchez who told police he had smoked two marijuana cigarettes, but did not have any other narcotics in the apartment. Sanchez gave officers consent to search the residence. Inside the residence were two additional adults and three juveniles. A search of the residence located two bags of marijuana, a grinder and a glass bong. Sanchez was arrested and transported to the Jim Wells County jail. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
Thief sleeps in driveway
Michael Lichtenberger was arrested Sunday evening on the 2000 block of Suarez Street. Officers arrived to find Lichtenberger asleep in the driveway. A lady nearby yelled at Lichtenberger about her missing waller. Lichtenberger admitted to taking the wallet, but could not remember where he “dumped” it. When the officer searched Lichtenberger he found the victim's driver's license and credit cards. Lichtenberger was taken to the JWC jail and charged with theft over $100 under $750 enhanced.
Suspected thief hides from cops
A woman who ran from police Saturday was found hiding in the utility room of an apartment. Officers were dispatched to a business on the 1100 block of East Main Street. The officers observed Delizza Davila running away from the business with a purse in hand. According to the victim, Davila stole her purse from her shopping cart. The victim told police she located her purse in the trash can but was missing her cell phone, $80 and a small black wallet. Davila was transported to the JWC jail and charged with theft over $100 and criminal trespassing.
Traffic Stop Arrest
A routine traffic stop sent one man to jail Friday. Officer John De Leon conducted a traffic stop with Adrian Perez on the 1100 block of East Main. As the officer spoke with Perez he observed a leafy green substance on Perez's shirt. Perez exited the vehicle and dropped a synthetic marijuana cigarette as he cleaned his shirt. A search of the vehicle located five other synthetic marijuana cigarettes. Perez was transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 8 outstanding warrant and driving while license suspended.
