San Diego- Francisco "Pancho" Gonzalez 73 years of age passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 after a sudden illness. He was a Veteran who served in the United States Army. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Pct. # 1 in the Duval County for 30 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Belia Barrera Gonzalez, three brothers, 3 half brothers, 3 sisters and 1 half sister. Survivors include his wife of 51 years of marriage Olga B. Gonzalez, San Diego, Texas, a grandson raised as a son, Frankie (Liz) Gonzalez, San Diego, Texas, three daughters Aida (Lorenzo) Estrada, Alice, Texas, Sylvia (Arturo) Contreras and Pauline Gonzalez, both of San Diego, Texas, three sisters, Lina Deleon and Janie Garza, both of Corpus Christi, Texas and Mary Helen Gonzalez, Kingsville, Texas, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home-San Diego with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery. Military Graveside services conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association of Alice.
