Amber Garcia was arrested Sunday, Jan. 15 on several charges including assault on a peace officer after a routine traffic stop.

According to sheriff officials, Lt. Steve Dreyer and Sgt. Ernie Rivera, were working an operation in conjunction with Brooks County Investigators and State Agencies, in reference to narcotics being smuggled from the Alice area to a State Correctional Facility.

During the investigation, the deputies conducted a traffic stop on Garcia and searched her vehicle locating a small amount of marijuana.

Garcia was arrested after being combative and resistant. Garcia later cooperated and admitted to having narcotics in her home. Garcia gave consent to search her bedroom which led to the recovery of 37.3 grams of synthetic marijuana and 4.9 ounces of marijuana.

Garcia was booked into the JWC jail. She was charged with resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
